    NEXT STEPS

Thank you for completing this application!  The next step will be an appointment with MPP’s volunteer coordinator Richard Norman. He can be reached at 410-685-2525 x1200 and rnorman@mppi.org.  Our address is 3701 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore MD 21224.

At this meeting, to expedite the rest of the application, please bring the following:

    • Driver’s license and proof of auto insurance if applicable
    • Social Security card or birth certificate
    • Government issued Photo ID, if you do not have a driver’s license

Because MPP provides foster care services to children, we must comply with more stringent State of Maryland Regulations than other organizations that may provide only tutoring.  So our volunteers have a few extra steps to complete.  Our volunteer coordinator will walk you through the process – let us know if you have suggestions or need help.

At your meeting, you will receive and/or be provided:

    • Criminal Justice Information Services form to authorize fingerprinting (with an information sheet detailing where you need to go; no cost to you)
    • Consent for Maryland Child Protective Services Background Clearance Request (requires a notarized signature but MPP will provide)
    • Instructions regarding the mentoring activities that start after a successful tutoring relationship
    • Instructions for obtaining verification of Tuberculosis Screening which must be signed by your doctor or medical provider

These extra steps may take a little time and effort, but it is worth it – you will be making a difference in someone’s life!  We look forward to meeting you!
